Giving Back to Dementia Australia

Grief Gifts was created from a place of deep personal loss and love, and part of that journey includes supporting others who are walking similar paths. That is why I have made the decision to donate 10 percent of every sale to Dementia Australia.

Dementia Australia is an incredible organisation that provides support, education, and advocacy for people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers. They offer helplines, counselling, resources, and education programs to help navigate the overwhelming journey that dementia can bring. They are often a lifeline during some of the darkest and most confusing times.

For me, they were just that.

When my mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I became her administrator. I had to make medical and financial decisions on her behalf, at a time when I was heartbroken, lost, and scared. It often felt like no one really understood how heavy the weight was. I questioned myself constantly, worried that I was making the wrong choices for her.

During those times, I called the Dementia Australia helpline more times than I can count.

Each time, a kind and caring person answered.
They listened when I needed to cry.
They helped me understand the complexities of Alzheimer's when my head was spinning.
They guided me without judgment, giving me the information I needed so that I could make decisions with more confidence and clarity.
They never made me feel alone.

Their compassion helped carry me through some of the hardest days of my life.

I am forever grateful for their support and it feels only right to give back in a small way.

By donating a portion of every Grief Gift sale, I hope to help them continue their beautiful work  offering a hand to hold for others who are finding their way through dementia's painful journey.
