Giving Back Through Grief Gifts

At Grief Gifts, kindness has always been at the heart of everything I do.
Every gift that is carefully wrapped, thoughtfully prepared and sent is a reminder that even in life's most difficult moments, compassion has the power to bring comfort. As Grief Gifts continues to grow, I want that compassion to extend beyond the people we support and into causes that make a meaningful difference.
That's why, each financial year, I chooses a charity to support. Each charity reflects a cause that has touched my life in a deeply personal way.
For the 2024-2025 financial year, I was honoured to support Dementia Australia, a cause that holds a very special place in my heart my beautiful Mum was diagnosed with early onset dementia.
For the 2025-2026 financial year, Grief Gifts proudly supported Rare Cancers Australia, in memory of Mum, who was later diagnosed with the extremely rare cancer, mucosal melanoma. Supporting Rare Cancers Australia was a way of honouring her journey while helping other families facing the challenges of a rare cancer diagnosis.
Now, for the 2026-2027 financial year, I pledge to donate $1 from every sale to support Oldies but Goodies Dog Rescue.
Dogs have always held a special place in my heart.
In 2022, just six months after losing my beautiful Mum, I said goodbye to my soul dog, Archie, just shy of his 16th birthday. Losing him so soon after losing Mum was devastating. The grief was overwhelming, and even today, I still miss him deeply.
Anyone who has loved a dog will understand that they are never "just a pet". They are family. They walk beside us through every season of life, offering unconditional love, quiet companionship and unwavering loyalty. When they're gone, they leave an emptiness that can be difficult for others to understand.
Perhaps that's why supporting Oldies but Goodies Dog Rescue feels so close to my heart.
Based in Perth, Oldies but Goodies was established to rescue senior dogs with complex medical needs who have been abandoned or neglected. The rescue is run by Natalie Plunkett, whose decades of experience in animal welfare have helped give countless older dogs a second chance at life.
Grief Gifts also supports people experiencing the heartbreaking loss of a beloved pet. Through creating pet loss sympathy gifts, I've been reminded time and time again of the extraordinary bond we share with our animals. They are family, and they leave paw prints on our hearts that last forever.
Supporting Oldies but Goodies Dog Rescue feels like a natural extension of everything Grief Gifts stands for: compassion, dignity, love and hope. Their mission to care for senior dogs in their greatest time of need reflects the same values that inspire Grief Gifts every day: showing up with kindness, offering comfort and reminding others that they are not alone.
Throughout the 2026-2027 financial year, Grief Gifts will donate $1 from every order to Oldies but Goodies Dog Rescue, with the total contribution made at the end of the financial year. Every gift purchased helps provide love, care and a second chance for senior dogs in need, and I'm so grateful that by choosing Grief Gifts, you're helping make a difference too.
Thank you for supporting my small business, for trusting me during life's most difficult moments, and for helping spread kindness in more ways than one.
Together, we're caring for healing hearts while helping ensure older dogs receive the love, comfort and dignity they deserve.
With gratitude,
Amanda xx
